As a member of the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation your financial contribution has a direct impact on the improvements made by the library. We’re happy to announce that another great improvement has been completed by the Central Library and its three branches.

Wireless Internet access has been introduced at each of the library facilities. Unlike most other wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) locations that charge a membership fee such as coffeehouses and bookstores, the Library’s access points will be unrestricted and entirely free of charge to Newport Beach library cardholders.

In addition to Internet access, customers bringing in their wireless-equipped laptops will have access to the entire range of full-text databases and library catalogs normally accessible only from the library’s own computers. The high-speed wireless connections will be available during normal libraries hours of operation.

To access the increased bandwidth, your laptop PC must be equipped with an 802.11b WiFi Ethernet interface card. Newport Beach Public Library cardholders can access the library’s network from any public area in the building.

The wireless Internet capabilities were made possible with funds provided by Bill and Bobbitt Williams through the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation.
