“Our daughter Lindy’s fifth
birthday was a special one that my husband
and I celebrated with several activities.
After having her “dress up”
portrait taken, we made a special trip
and drove to the Newport Beach Public
Library. Five is the earliest age at which
a person may get their own library card,
so this birthday was a special one for
Lindy. The library has always played a
significant role in our daughter’s
life and we’ve had to overcome the
challenge of getting her to understand
that she has to return the borrowed books
she loves so much. With the enthusiastic
help of the librarian, Lindy completed
the form and was issued her own library
card. Our daughter is now grown up, yet
she still uses that blue card with the
block capital letters of her name, written
on her special fifth birthday.”
